Aqualegia |
; Rovi says One of mine |
Lovely crisp shot. Focus and exposure both excellent. Has impact against the black background. Perhaps would like to have seen all the leaf on the bottom edge, but a minor point.

Bolt |
Rovi says Not much to lift this image, maybe a close-up of the rusty bolt would have been more productive.
|
Not one for me I am afraid, just personal taste. Imaginative with an abstract feel to it, and it does have some impact. Not quite sure about the fo cus on the bolt itself.

Ely |
An interesting shot well taken with a rather soft focus. Feel that the light on the girl’s right hand side of the face is a little harsh and her wrist tends to merge with her cheek. Rather like the halo effects – adds an interesting dimension. |

European Otter |
Rovi says Nice treatment with colour and vignette have enhanced this image and focussed on the subject.
|
A good shot of a difficult subject. Good reflections and russet colours . Exposure and focus both good. Oddly enough I would like to have seen just the head and neck of the otter out of the water, as it’s back seems to detract somewhat. A good effort though.

Fiery Fred |
Rovi says Being old enough to remember the real Fred I was immediately interested in this shot. As a piece of sculpture it is great, as a photograph it is a nice record.
|
| Ah I remember him well in Roses games at Old Trafford. Has impact and is not over saturated. Background detracts rather and if it had been blurred the impact od the subject would have been increased and the image improved in my opinion |
|

Great Horned Owl |
Rovi says The dark treatment of this shot fits well with our night time association with owls, also helps to mask any distractions in the background
|
The colours suit the subject in this image and the blurring of the background makes the owl stand out. Spot on focus and exposure. The downside for me is the top of the fencepost obscuring the bottom of the owl.

Halifax Piece Hall |
Rovi says I like the angles of the building leading to the spire, but there is not much else to lift this image for me.
|
Regret does not do a lot for me. The gallery on the right takes the eye into the centre of the image and on to the spire. The sky is rather bland though. Has a good depth of field.

Havin a Splash |
Rovi says A common scene on many lakes and ponds, but not so easy to capture the moment. It takes a mix of skill, good kit and element of good fortune. This has produced a very good image.
|
Good shot of another often un-cooperative subject. Well captures sense of movement and water droplets. Nicely composed. A worthy effort |
|

Kinder Plateau |
Rovi says Taken on the same day as the previous shot I suspect. Great potential with the right conditions.
|
One of mine from a few days ago. It was darn cold and the peat bogs were still frozen on top and the mist kept coming and going. The beer in Edale was good though.. |

Light the Way |
Rovi says Great image this, very well thought out and executed. I like this a lot.
|
An excellent shot well taken and composed, effective in black and white. The central position of the lighthouse for me works well with the image.. Could be a strong contender.

Miss Haversham |
Rovi says |
This I rather like, and not because I am a Charles Dickens fan, but for its inventiveness and creativity. The sepia approach works well to give it some impact and definite atmosphere. Well taken, with good exposure.

NYC Model |
Rovi says I like the outdoor setting and monotone approach, it works very well here. I am left with the feeling that I want to see more of the models face, just one eye please. Leaving the viewer wanting more is quite clever. An excellent image.
|
Well composed shot and suits the black and white treatment. Has an air of intrigue about it. For me the background tends to add to the atmosphere. Is the original lady of international intrigue and mystery? Could do well.

Parked Bike |
Rovi says This may have been more interesting if it was being ridden by its little rider.
|
Regret one which does not really grab me – sorry. Good colour and the subject is nicely in focus, but I find the background rather messy and distracting.
|

Peacock Tree Frog |
Rovi says An appealing shot of a pretty frog peeping around the flower. A well balanced and attractive image.
|
.This is my favourite in the open this month. Imaginatively treated, with good colour and exposure. Should do well.
|
|
Sea Rocks Nothumberland |
; Rovi says A classic image, lovely to look at. The sky doesn’t add much to the scene. This would make a very nice print.
|
Another excellent image – a contender. Not too keen on the sky but well taken and quite moody. The big rock gives a good short focal point and overall the image has a good sense of depth. |

White's Tree Frog |
Rovi says A handsome beast [to another frog I suppose]. No distracting background and the subject at an angle have helped this image.
|
Another good shot, with excellent colour and exposure. In with a chance I think. The branch does not seem to detract or compete with the subject.

Woolpacks on Kinder |
Rovi says A dramatic place, but the rather dull light has not brought out the best in this scene. Another day with different light could produce a great image.
|
My second this month. The mist is just about to make a comeback and blot everything out for a while.
