The model is lovely just some brown splodge thing on her hands spoils the models excellent look. If the stone on her right had been the same colour and shade of the left she would have looked perfect. No highlight in her eye but that is great she does not need them. |
An excellent portrait with good colour and saturation levels. Exposure is good. Well composed and the model’s eye contact is spot on.

Avocet |
Not being a bird person this does not do a lot for me. It does have nice sharp focus on the eye and a good reflection.
|
The bird sits nicely in the frame, and I love the drop of water on the tip of its beak. A technically competent shot with good exposure and focus.

Blue Tooth |
An interesting colour manipulation and that seems to work well. The name is perfect for today and all our gadgets |
The imaginative treatment turns this image into a rather interesting shot. It is creative and carries some impact. A thought out title too. A good effort. |

Dream |
A nice photo which in stills the viewer with calm. A touch more contrast to bring out more shadow would be nice, but it would need to be gentle or it would destroy the peace and tranquillity of the shot
|
This image has a rather ethereal quality to it, which I assume is what the photographer was after, so object achieved. Good position of the subject in the frame, with ok exposure and not over saturated.

Fleetwood the Mount |
For me this is just a good holiday snap. A tighter crop on the building bringing it onto the thirds and missing out the clutter on the left would help. The lamp post is a distraction so a closer view point may have helped.
|
Good lead lines taking the eye up the road to the focal point of the building. The central position of the building does seem to work. Good exposure and depth of field. Perhaps would like to have seen some animation in the form of few figures in the image to give some scale. |

Guardian |
A strange image or should I say the mask is strange. This makes the subject worth while.
|
Regret this one does not garb me really, but just personal taste. An interesting idea and the colours are effective. Looks alittle cramped in the frame but does have impact.

Mellow Stone |
Nice blacks lights and mid tones. Looks like it was taken from left of centre.
|
One of mine, taken one Autumn afternoon in the cloisters at Gloucester Cathedral. Just loved the sense of age and permanence it possessed. The stones just seem to say who cares about the passage of time. We never have.

Quiet Day on Rushup Edge |
Nice colours and shadow from the clouds. Crop out the mucky puddle and it for me would be better. Leave in the pile of stones, and that along with the wall leads the eye nicely to the top.
|
My second. A mid-week day away from it all on good old Rushup Edge. Lose Hill in the background with Win Hill on the horizon over to the right. |

Rose Crescent - Cambridge |
Nice to get the colours reflecting on wet cobbles. It has instant appeal just for the colour, but for me it is just a little too blue. That is of course just me.
|
Rather like this, particularly the reflections on the wet pavement. Good colour range with plenty of interest. Well taken. Might have been tempted to let the cyclist get a little closer to give a better sense of scale. |

St Andrew's Church |
A nice shot, but I yearn to see all the church in shot. I know that would tale the steeple of the left third but maybe worth it. A nice sky with only the bottom right pulling the eye away.
|
A nice Winter morning shot, with the colour in the sky very effective. Gives a definate sense of chilliness. The image is a little ‘brittle’ for my taste and may have swung a little to the left to get more or all of the church in if possible and exclude the small building on the right hand side. A good image though nonetheless.

Sunset Fire on Media City Bridge |
I like the colours, the way it goes from cold to hot. On my setup the bridge platform does not look totally sharp. Nice and one for the wall
|
An excellent image, well treated with loads of impact. Technically very competent.

The Duke of Lancaster |
I do like the boat done from this low angle, but and there is always a but, if it were possible to position the boat to the left of shot so we could see where the chain went , and also to help fill the area right that looks so bare.
|
This I rather like. Looks good in black and white, which gives it a sense of desolation and abandonment. The sky adds to this atmosphere. Remember coming back from Belfast to Heysham on this ship many years ago.

Unwanted |
Rubbish, not the photo but the can, and rubbish can make a good subject. Nice colours just a pity about the few blades of grass over the can. On saying that, they are at the edges so not to bad.
|
Nice idea and technically well taken. Just a thought , but I might have stood on the can and roughed it up a bit. Interesting shot though, with imagination.

Wooden Dogs Head with Hands |
Nice warm colours, but the dogs head is lost a little in the dark.
|
A thought about and nicely composed shot. I might have asked the chap to roll his sleeves up so that they were not visible but his wrists were. Good skin colour and a creative idea.

Zooming in on the Past |
Good title to go with the effect, but not for me. Not a bad shot but I would have liked to see it In high contrast black and white
|
One of my favourites this month. Imaginative treatment makes this shot. Impact comes from the black and white treatment., and it displays technical skill. |

Crescent of the whole moon |
This one looks as if it is false, like an acorn or an egg in an egg cup. Top part with the stars I like, but not the crescent along with all the black area to the bottom.
|
Good effort at the large moon of late. Carries impact and interest. Not too sure of the soft focus. I would prefer perhaps more definition on a shot such as this.
