Abstract 1

This one either has not enough or just too much colour to hold my interest. I see a hint of a face within it.  There is a dark line along the top which pulled my eye away.

It certainly is and it meets the theme. Not sure what it actually is bit given the theme that’s fine. Imaginative and creative, a useful skill when looking for abstract images.A good effort.

Afternoon Tea

Great colours well balanced with each other. This could stand on its own without the man having tea. A wall with a door way to a tranquil green room beyond is what it is saying to me.

A good composite meeting the theme nicely Good exposure and focus and well composed. A worthy effort.

Aquilegia Abstract

Nice vibrant colours in a pleasing swirl. I would like to have seen more to the right hand side.

Getting the whole pattern in might have helped a bit. It may be that I am just useless at abstracts.

Good contrasting colours with the black background adding to the impact. Well taken and no problem with the theme.

Bird of Paradise

I don’t know if this takes its name from the plant or not.
There is a nice balance of reds and greens, but the bottom right corner, for me lets it down a bit. I would have liked it to be the same green as the dark green leaves.
Would probably look good on a large canvas rather than on paper or screen.

Very well taken, looks almost like a painting. Colour and texture are excellent and well composed. Cannot fault it really.

Cog Chevrons

The eye takes in all the cogs from top to bottom then because of the DOF settles in the middle. The photo does exactly what it should, and that is hold you eye within it.
Nice little hints of colour without them over powering you.

A simple straightforward photograph, but well spotted and effective. Good colour treatment and well taken

Goose Feathers

Nice subject but all too soft for my taste. This is a shot that for me should be pin sharp all over with a little more contrast in it. It may also look good with some false colours worked into it.

This is one of my theme favourites this month. Well spotted and creative. I might have cropped a little off the right hand vertical side. The softer focus works well wityh the feathers.

Hosta Abstract

Nice approach to a plant subject, good colours and reflections.

At the top middle there is a horizontal edge to a leaf that kind of hogs your eye. A small crop would fix this.

Another one I like, but not quite sure if it is abstract enough for me. Good image however, and I love the reflections effect on the water. They make the shot really. Good exposure and impact.

Lattice Frame

It is said that you should not have everything in the centre, but this calls out for it. If the top of the tower had been dead centre it may have more appeal.

Interested to know what this actually is  -  but it is well treated and displays creativity and thought. Good use of just two colours which do contrast with each other. Has impact and well taken.

Lowry Abstract

Again good colours, and in the right setting will look good. Its one you need to stand back from to take in the full effect.

Meets the theme with a vengeance, and displays again good use of largely two contrasting colours. Good exposure. Simple but effective and competently taken.

Pollution

Good sense of movement given of by the swirls. There is a little part top and bottom that are dark, maybe nice to get them out of the frame. This is another photo that might work with some colours in the swirls. In BW it still works really well.

Is this on the surface of a river or stream? Displays good sense of creativity which abstract often demands. In sync with the theme, and well taken.

Sand Circles

I do like this one. Black and white works well. It looks so simple yet holds your eye within the frame perfectly.

This one I like, largely because it is a simple but effective image. The composition is good and exposure is fine.

Snake Skin

Nice and sharp, good colour and highlights. Top left and right take your eye a little but not too bad. The more I look at it, the more I like the colours, but it is a snake, and I don't like them.

A well taken image with good technical skill. Thought about and well spotted.

Snow Maze

Good idea for an abstract. A little more contrast or black and white would be nice.

This is one of mine. Just an old gnarled tree with snow lying on its branches

Splish Splash

I have to admit that this does nothing for me at all. It is not a bad photo at all just not for me.

My second. Not too sure if it is much abstract. But anyway, it is part of a fountain in Vilnius.

Traction Engine Wheel

Lots of colour and shapes to this one but I am not sure about it overall.

It may be the blue that steals your eye away from the interesting parts, but I jus don’t know.

Well composed and taken. Good colour and focus. Could get technical here and start talking about  big end bearings and coupling rods but will resist the urge. A good effort.
