This months theme is : Manipulated to Death

Crits kindly done by Rovi and Steamy

Department F Stop

Rovi says; Now thats a thought for the future! I find this an amusing image, made me smile. Possibly of limited appeal outside of DPG, but credit for thinking up something original.

Imaginative with impact in large amounts. Good contrasting colours and the enigmatic expression on the lady’s face add to the image.

Fish

Rovi says; A nice group of three fish across the frame. Removing the half fish top left would help. I’m not sure that the plasticization of the fish has improved on what are beautiful fish.

Again this image displays some creativity and  inventiveness. They resemble electric fluorescent fish. An interesting shot.

Narcissus

Rovi says; The photogenic hand again. Nice idea, the flower maybe a little overpowered by the hand.

Probably my favourite theme shot this month. Well thought out with good use of contrasting colours to create impact. A competent shot. Could do well.

Rhythm Bones

One of mine, a bit of fun on a wet afternoon.

A very inventive shot and well taken. Rather let down by the background however which takes away the impact. Maybe a totally black background with just the figures on it would have looked good. Just a thought.

Round and Round we go

Rovi says; To manipulate an image with todays technology is not too hard. To manipulate and achieve a better image than the original is the aim and is a little more difficult. This image has managed this brilliantly. I do like how the image flows diagonally from bottom left to top right. A quality image.

Very inventive and cleverly executed. Good composition also. Well done.

Stepping Stones

Rovi says; A lovely scene, but is it better than the original? I’m sure there is a great image to be found with this scene, especially with the stepping stones marching diagonally across the frame.

This image has something of the feel of a water colour painting to it, which is perhaps what the photographer intended. Good approach for the subject.

The Apple

Rovi says; The manipulation of this image seems to be the addition of quite a lot of grain. Has this resulted in an improved image? I’m not sure, maybe the voting will tell.

Nice innovative treatment of a simple subject. Good use of colour , light and shadow.

Timewarp Tardis

one of mine, same wet afternoon.

A technically competent shot with good depth of field effect. Good colour and focus. Could do well.

We will not forget

Rovi says;  An interesting image. No main point of interest but lots of areas to delve into. I found I was made to explore the image and found it growing on me.

Has something of an abstract feel to it, rather than perhaps manipulation. Just a personal view. Well executed with plenty of interest, and holds the attention. An image that you have to ‘read’? A worthy effort.
