Traffic |
| Mark Says: Hope this was done either stationary or as a passenger! I would have liked all of the first car in the frame. Good effort – and definitely fits the theme! |
| Di Says More on the motorway – but this time in a jam – it’s my shot so I’ll say no more. |
| M6
J10 - (Joint) WINNER |
| M6 J10 Mark Says: Well executed image. I like the symmetry – though I think I would have cloned out the one or two bright spots on the left hand side as they pull the eye too much with nothing to balance on the right hand side. I’m also bugged by the red lights that start half way into the exposure. |
| Di Says Light trails from traffic streaming up and down the motorway. I can’t see the exposure time, but when I went and did this the other week, I was looking at between 20 and 30 seconds. It’s a great effect, with the orange dots showing up well the traffic indicators. Not an easy shot to get right, but this has been done to good effect. Well done. |
| Air
Traffic --- Close formation |
| Mark Says: Good take on the theme this month – I think just a bit ore space in front of the air craft would have made an otherwise excellent shot even better. |
| Di Says An excellent shot of these aircraft. They really are tucked together, and even without any motion blurr, you know that they are really moving fast. Well captured. |
| Suet
traffic |
| Mark Says: Another different take on this months theme. I’m amazed how sharp the birds are considering how long the rain streaks are! The eye contact of the one bird really pulls the viewer in to the image. Well done |
| Di Says Another great shot, and it looks like it’s snowing too. Good shots of the birds at all angles. Well done. |
| Driving
at Warp 3 |
| Mark Says: I was driving at the time this shot was taken! Si at the time asked about the reflection from the bonnet – and having looked at it now, I think it shouldn’t be there! Other than that, it’s a good abstract on the theme. Well done! |
| Di Says For all you non-trekkie fans out there, warp 3 was a mid speed for the Starship Enterprise. It’s an interesting shot taken through a car window on a long exposure. I assume the shot is hand held. It’s a great effect, well done. |
| Reflections
of the Road |
| Mark Says: A slightly higher view point may have emphasized the traffic theme by showing more cars in the mirror. Other than that, it’s a good idea and I do like it. Good effort. |
| Di Says I like the way that the raindrops and text are in focus, whereas the reflections themselves are slightly blurred. There is a lot to see in the reflections and the background too completes the effect. I like this inventive shot. |
| Chitty
Does not Fly, It Uses the Lift |
| Mark Says: Slightly stretching the theme with this shot! Looks a bit underexposed to me- or at least the mid-tones of the cars body are a little dark. |
| Di Says I Googled for this, and came up with http://www.imdb.com/gallery/mptv/1363/Mptv/1363/11689_0005.jpg.html?path=gallery&path_key=0062803 the original shot of Chitty with the cast. This is a great picture, though slightly too dark for my liking, though it could of course be my monitor. I suggest that the levels are lifted slightly. It’s a good shot, and excellent focus. Well done. |
| LimosRus |
| Mark Says: I like this shot – the fact that advertising limos with a Smart car has to be a classic! Show detail just below the car has disappeared, which is as shame. Perhaps a little tightly cropped – but still I like it! |
| Di Says A quirky shot, showing an excellent sense of humour. Great focus, and this allows you to almost ignore the horrid background. A bit of blurr to the background would not have gone amiss though. Well seen, and well shot. |
| Paris
Traffic - THIRD |
| Mark Says: My first entry. Wish the traffic lights weren’t there! |
| Di Says You can almost feel the heat, and hear the roar of the traffic. I’m wondering where the photographer was stood to not get run down. Well taken. |
| Old
Traffic |
| Mark Says: My second. Should have had a lower view point and got more space in front of the horse. |
| Di Says Another French shot, as we can see from ‘TABAC’ in the background. Fits the theme though, and is an excellent shot. |
| Two
Wheeled Traffic -(Joint) WINNER |
| Mark Says: Good shot. The diagonal path is great – and just pops over the hill nicely. Colour and saturation is spot on. |
| Di Says Well no-one specified what kind of traffic. I drove past this place only today and there were more people on the hillsides than in the village (that was until it rained again!). It’s a great shot, I can only wish there were some other cyclists a little further back in the shot to keep the theme going throughout the shot. |
| M60
Stockport |
| Mark Says: Would have been perfect with a better sky – and the train perfectly central to the gantry! Or am I being picky! I like the fact that the train is on the bridge – sort of a convergence of two transport systems. |
| Di Says For me – this is an uninteresting shot. Even with a train on the viaduct, which I didn’t even see at first, it hasn’t helped, all we just see is traffic streaming through the bridges. It’s too grey, and it’s too bland. Sorry |
| Vienna
Rush hour |
| Mark Says: I like this shot a lot. The conversion to B&W is good, perhaps lacking a little contrast if anything. I like the abstract nature too – just a shame the horse is not quite in frame! |
| Di Says Nice shot, with loads of motion blurr. I do wonder if there is a little too much blurr here. The monochrome effect does work well. Wonder if a sepia touch might have helped even more, or even some aging effect. Interesting concept. |
| Traffic
on the glocknerstrasse - SECOND |
Mark Says: I’m pretty sure I’ve
driven this road! Good shot, well exposed. The road is perhaps a little
straight – in that it comes in and goes out at almost the same
height in the picture. |
| Di Says Now this is what I call bendy road with plenty of traffic streaming up and down. It’s a great effect. Well captured. |
