Cheeky
Mark Says
This is my first. I liked this one, just wish I could get rid of the telegraph pole. At least its not coming out of her head.
Steamy says:
Lives up to its title, and a wonderful expression, well captured.
Not sure about the pole in the background though.

Carefree
Mark Says
Title says is all. Well exposed, but perhaps a little central with no space around the dog.
Steamy says:
Why can animals look so relaxed?. Good photograph … and good focus.

Embarrassed Daughters
Mark Says
The background is a bit grey and there is a nasty hard shadow around the face of the right hand daughter.
There is also a bit of glare on both faces, which is a shame because they are both attractive and I’m sure will make good models given a little encouragement.
Steamy says:
An attractive portrait. Two natural expressions of slightly amused tolerance? Nice colour contrasts.

Bullish Expression
Mark Says
I would have liked to have seem the nose of the bull, as it currently looks a little cut off! The lighting is a bit harsh too.
The eyes are lacking a catchlight, which really would help make the animal look alive.
Steamy says:
The eyes say ‘who are you and don’t mess with me’ How close was the photographer?. Not too sure about the focus though, but an imaginative treatment of the subject

Euphoria

(Stockport County score at Exeter City.)

Mark Says
Good capture of the couple – looks a bit cold though!
Shame about the face in the background that does detract a bit.
Steamy says:
Cannot comment …one of mine.

Is this Kevin? - SECOND
Mark Says
My second. Its possibly a bit central but has a good amount of space around the image.
I’m not looking forward to it when she’s a teenager!
Steamy says:
I love this picture and the defiant expression. Perhaps just a shade closer would make it even better. Excellent well seen photograph.

Best of friends
Mark Says
In that case who needs enemies!
The framing chops off the foot a tail a bit for me. I would have liked to have seen the second dogs face some more too.
Steamy says:
Energetic movement makes this a difficult photograph to take, but it is well captured and very expressive. The head of the standing dog makes the picture.

Having fun
Mark Says
Some great expressions in this shot, which looks like it was taken at a wide angle due to the perspective of the arm which does help bring the eye into the shot.
Good fun shot.
Steamy says:
Expressions a-plenty and a picture that exudes an exuberant quality. Plenty for the eye to follow and good use of colour contrasts.

And another thing - WINNER
Mark Says
Another good candid of the ladies talking. Would have been even better if it was just the three. I like the expression of the lady in green.
Steamy says:
For me this is top class treatment of the subject. Hands can also be as expressive as faces, and this has both. Interesting contrast in the facial expressions. An excellent photograph, well spotted and shot.
Had fun trying to decide what each lady was actually really thinking!! Well done.

Here's looking at you kid
Mark Says
Nicely focused on the head which is well exposed. Unfortunately it looks like the sky was a bit bright, but cloudy and has blown out. Another shot that would have benefited from a boarder to define the edges better.
The second animal is really just in the way and the image would have better without it.
Steamy says:
Who would mix it with this goat? Well spotted opportunity for imaginative subject treatment. Innovative and well taken. Perhaps the featureless sky detracts a bit.

Don't even think about it
Mark Says
The slow shutter speed has blurred the hands and feet of the one combatant and I’m not sure that it really helps the picture. The background is a bit clutter – and perhaps should be cleaned up in Photoshop.
The fact that there are three of them is a good idea compositionally, as it allows the eye to go round and round the picture and keeps the interest up.
Good effort.
Steamy says:
Well captured expressions of determination, also emphasising that body posture can be as expressive as hands and faces. Afraid thebackground rather spoils it for me.

You were saying................
Mark Says
The child is looking like he was caught in the act of doing something he shouldn’t!
I think I would have some of the space on the right hand side to push the subject away from the centre of the image.
Good effort.
Steamy says:
An expression only children of which are capable. A bit unnerving but good. Well captured, but not too sure if the older person adds anything extra.

Blue Man - THIRD
Mark Says
This is a shot that really catches my eye and has to be up at the top of the pile!
I would have liked his head a little higher up in the frame and it cropped a little less tightly – as its cutting off the bag – but that almost doesn’t matter.
Steamy says:
This I like because it is imaginative and carries a lot of impact. The facial expression is a distinct focal point and contrasts nicely with the predominant blue. Well done.
Excellent.

Concentration
Mark Says
Super shot, good saturation and sharpness. Expression is perhaps more implied that seen, but is there all the same.
Boat is on the thirds which is good.
Steamy says:
You can feel the determination and concentration etched on the man’s face. A wonderfully expressive photograph. , Not sure however about the second canoeist whom I find a bit distracting.

Where's my lunch
Mark Says
Another great shot. Nicely framed. I like the way the bird is looking back into the picture. Tail is just chopped off – to be really picky!
Steamy says:
Class picture. And such a stern piercing expression. For Pete’s sake get this bird its lunch quick. Focus and colours are bob on. Like it a lot.

Cheers!
Mark Says
Nice portrait, slightly tight crop – the hand appears from nowhere! On camera flash is never that flattering – and you get, as here, the shadow on the backdrop if you aren’t careful. Nice catchlights in the eyes though. Glass could have been a little lower as it obscures the chin a bit too much.
Steamy says:
Again no comment …one of mine

Happy Days!
Mark Says
Nice composition, with the lady obviously happy! Skin colour is a little off – probably a white balance issue. Labels on some of the bottles are a little blown.
Steamy says:
A picture full of interest and joy. However my eye tends to focus on the bottles, which rather dominate, and not the expression.

Not a care in the world
Mark Says
Nice shot of the cat, very slightly blown highlights on the fur. Framed well and nicely composed.
Steamy says:
An expression which oozes the contentment that only cats know. A cat doing what they all do so well …. ‘sleeping with style’.. Nicely captured .A lovely photograph.
